|1 Corinthians 1:27|
|Saturday, June 18 2011|
In our final look at 1 Corinthians, Chapter 1, God looks in unexpected places for the leaders of our Church:
"Rather, God chose the foolish of the world to shame the wise, and God chose the weak of the world to shame the strong, and God chose the lowly and despised of the world, those who count for nothing, to reduce to nothing those who are something, so that no human being might boast before God." -1 Corinthians 1:27-29, NAB
The world is full of theologians who have analyzed every verse in Scripture. There are those who can stand in front of a room and give a thunderous sermon. And, there are the men and women whose faces are printed on books, magazines, and other media. May God bless them for the wonderful work that they are doing for His Church. Yet, they are not the only ones who are called. Everyday people, like you and me, are called to share His message with the world. Through us, God can reach our friends and family in a more personal way than any book. Through us, we can come together in great numbers to help feed the poor. Through us, we can show the world that the Catholic Church is more than our bishops and priests, our parishes and dioceses; we are the Catholic Church! You may not feel empowered to share the Gospel with the whole world, but you do not have to. All God wants is for you to share the Gospel with your world. Live your faith outwardly. Do not be afraid to share the love of Jesus with those around you. If you do, you might be amazed at the results and the blessings it can bring.
NOTE: Truly, I say to you that what you read here on this website comes from the Spirit and not myself. All honor and glory belong to God. By no means do I consider myself a gifted speaker, writer, or theologian. Only with the gifts that He has given me can I pull any of this off. And now, as promised, the Weekly Bible Readings will become Daily Bible Readings. Each week, there will be short daily readings Monday through Saturday and a longer lesson (like this one) on Sunday. Thank you for the continued blessings and support.
