The Examples Set Before Us...
How should we live our lives? Follow Paul's example:
"...I urge you, be imitators of me." -1 Corinthians 4:16, NAB
The early Church fathers, the saints, and the martyrs have all come before us to set an example for us. Through their lives, they show us how to live our lives in a Christ-like way. In this verse, Paul challenges us to live our lives as he did. Paul was not a sinless man. In fact, at one time, he persecuted Christians for their beliefs. Once he converted to Chrisitanity, his life took a dramatic turn, and he became the man who penned much of the New Testament. His example shows us that we are never too far to turn back. And through his example, he shows us that no matter how far from Christ we may have been that Christ still calls us to some pretty enormous tasks. No one is small in the eyes of God. Turn from your past like Paul, and leave it in the past. Take up your cross and follow the examples that came before us.
