Since the Beginning...

Some wonder, when did Jesus actually come into being:

"He was known before the foundation of the world but revealed in the final time for you, who through him believe in God who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God."  -1 Peter 1:20-21, NAB

Where did Jesus come from?  We speak of the Lord's Begotten Son.  Did the Lord beget Him for the first time 2000 years ago?  No.  Christ has existed since the beginning as One Person of the Holy Trinity.  He is more than simply a man that was born 2000 years ago, He was, is, and ever shall be God.  If we doubt Christ's existence at that time, we should look to another verse.

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came to be through him, and without him nothing came to be. What came to be through him was life, and this life was the light of the human race; the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." - John 1:1-5, NAB

In John's Gospel, we learn that Christ, the Word, was with God in the beginning.  In fact, all things came to be "through Him."  Before John spoke of anything else, He started his wonderful book by pronouncing this very important fact.  Some may gloss over the importance of it, but I think it is vital to understanding who Christ truly is.  John makes a strong statement saying that Christ was there helping to shape the world.

Some wonder, why did the Old Testament not mention the various persons of the Trinity?  Well, just as John tells us, He was not revealed until the final time.  Jews expected the Messiah to come, but they were imagining the great ruler who would set them free from the tyranny of this world.  Instead, Jesus did not come as a ruler of this world, but of heaven.  And, Jesus did not free them from tyrannical leaders and oppression, but from the tyranny in their own hearts.

Jesus was more than some guy that was born 2000 years ago.  Jesus is God.  Jesus is One Person of the Holy Trinity, and He was there when the world began.
