Ignorant by Choice...

We all choose what we believe, and what we don't:

"Ever since the creation of the world, his invisible attributes of eternal power and divinity have been able to be understood and perceived in what he has made. As a result, they have no excuse; for although they knew God they did not accord him glory as God or give him thanks. Instead, they became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless minds were darkened. While claiming to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for the likeness of an image of mortal man or of birds or of four-legged animals or of snakes." -Romans 1:20-23 NAB

Scientists and philosophers have been searching for ways to disprove the existence of God for generations.  For a long time, the great scientists and philosophers studied the earth and its beauty to show the true majesty of God.  Now, they see it as proof that He does not exist, and they choose alternatively to put their faith in other theories.

While people like this believe they are becoming more intelligent, sadly, they are becoming more ignorant to the real truth.  Over the years, science has been wrong, very wrong.  Think of the flat earth, a sun that revolves around us, and other theories that all proved to be completely wrong.  Still, at the time, the scientists and philosophers of the day thought they had it all figured out.  Well, they didn't then, and they still do not now.

Throughout the past 2000 years, there is one truth that has remained constant, and that is the truth that we find in Christ.  As a Church, we have grown, but we have not changed.  While science and philosophy continues to change its mind, Catholicism has remained true to its roots.  For me, this means everything.  I would much rather believe in one constant truth, and not waste my time chasing the philosophy and theories of the day.

It is time that we bring science and philosophy back to its religious roots.  We should stop using science and philosophy to try to disprove the existence of God and start using them to show the world His true majesty.  That is something worth believing in.
