Boast in Hope...

Do not be afraid to tell the world the truth:

"Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access (by faith) to this grace in which we stand, and we boast in hope of the glory of God." -Romans 5:1-2 NAB

Against what some may believe, Paul actually tells us that we should "boast in hope of the glory of God."  We should be excited to tell everyone we know about the grace that we have found in our Lord.  Some may think that we are a bit overzealous, but we should freely share our faith anyway.

In our culture today, it has become somewhat taboo to openly talk about our faith.  Somehow, other faiths and religions are encouraged to share their faith, while Christians are considered intolerant by doing the same thing.  If we live out our faith publicly, including in our political affiliations, we are considered overly conservative and right-wing zealots.  Call me what you will, but I am unashamed to tell the world how I feel.

We have been given a great gift, but it is not a gift that we should keep to ourselves.  Instead, it is a gift that we should share with anyone who will listen.  We do not need to hoard this gift because there is plenty of God's abundant grace to go around.  Anyone who seeks Him can find this grace, they need only to ask.

Are you proud to be a Christian?  Do you tell others about your love of Jesus Christ?  Or, do you sit quietly as others mock our faith?  Do you turn a blind eye when people speak ill about Catholics?  Stand up for your faith.  You may not gain a lot of fans in this world, but you will gain more than you can count in the next.
