Healing...

Christ has the power to heal whatever ails us:

On leaving the synagogue he entered the house of Simon and Andrew with James and John. Simon's mother-in-law lay sick with a fever. They immediately told him about her. He approached, grasped her hand, and helped her up. Then the fever left her and she waited on them. -Mark 1:29-31, NAB

In yesterday's reading, we learned about Jesus healing the soul by driving out unclean spirits, and today, we learn how He can heal the physical body as well.  We are just beginning Mark's Gospel, and Christ is already showing many signs and miracles.

What brought healing to the sick?  Many sought Jesus out to get healing.  Many reached out to touch His clothes - hoping that it would cure them.  But, what cured them was not being in the presence of Jesus or touching Him, but having faith in Him.  Their physical healing came through spiritual faith.

This same principle holds true for us today as well.  If we are looking to find healing through Christ, whether it is spiritually or physically, it is our faith that will bring that healing.  Our belief in the unbelievable is the key to making miracles happen.

Don't believe in healing?  It's a tough pill for any of us to swallow.  Even those who have been healed struggle to accept it.  Someone very close to me was healed - with the only explanation being a miracle - and it is still something that she struggles with accepting.  Years later, it still brings awe and wonder.

If  you are looking for healing, it begins with faith.  God can do some pretty awesome things, and our faith is the conduit to make it happen.  Turn to our loving God and pray that it is His will, and if you truly believe in miracles, you might be amazed at what happens.
