The Faith of Moses, Part 2...

The faith of Moses is shown yet again in his lack of fear for earthly consequences:

By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the king's fury, for he persevered as if seeing the one who is invisible.  -Hebrews 11:27, NAB

Our actions always have consequences - some good, some bad.  Moses knew that leaving Egypt would bring the pharoah's anger down on the people, but he placed his trust in the Lord.  He stood up in the face of persecution.

Since the beginning of Christianity, there have been battles waged between governments and their people over religious differences.  Governments want complete obedience to them.  Christians are obedient to God.  There has always been this struggle for power.

It began with the Romans, and we still see it today.  Sometimes, Christians are actively persecuted for their faith, just as Moses and the Jews were threatened and attacked by the pharoah.  Other times, the persecution is more subtle, as we see in today's society.

In today's age, we may not be actively persecuted for our faith, giving up our lives in the name of Christ, but it can still be challenging to stand up for what we believe in.  Being Christian, especially Catholic, is not as well-received as it was a century or two ago.

Every action has consequences, including having faith in God.  With faith, though, we can be sure that the rewards far outweigh the consequences.
