Luke 19:10...

On the thirty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time, Jesus tells us that He came to save us:

"For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save what was lost."  -Luke 19:10, NAB

We often speak about how we find Christ and how to help others find Him.  But the truth of the matter is that He is the One seeking us.  We are lost, and He is trying to help us find our way back home again.

In other words, we do not need to seek God because He is already there.  All we really need to do is open up our eyes and see the amazing wonders right in front of us.

This is one of the basic ideas of Waking Up Catholic.  We are not born again.  We do not find our way.  We simply wake up to the truth.  We open our eyes to a bright, new day, and we can finally see the morning light rising - the Light of Christ.

The problem is that we spend more time running in the other direction.  We follow paths that lead us away from Christ.  As we pursue our own agendas, we stray further from God.  Even in our attempts to make our way back home again, we still end up going in the wrong direction.

The key, then, is to stop moving.  We just need to stand still.  If we stop pursuing our own path long enough and open our hearts to Christ, He can finally reach us.  Once He does, He will show us the way again.

Christ continues to "seek and save what was lost (Luke 19:10)."  The more we move, the further away we become.  Stop moving, stand still, and let the calm and peace of Christ lead you to where you belong.
